Pela terceira rodada da Copa América masculina de basquete, em Porto Rico, o Brasil manteve seus 100% de aproveitamento ao derrotar a Argentina por 76 a 67 - algo inimaginável até bem pouco tempo atrás, visto que os hermanos construíram uma seleção forte e vencedora na bola laranja nos últimos dez anos (foram campeões olímpicos em 2004 e vice-campeões mundiais em 2002). Porém, alguns de seus maiores jogadores se afastaram da equipe e a renovação não está sendo tão satisfatória. Algo semelhante com o que ocorreu no Brasil (agravado pela crise política no basquete) de 1996 até hoje...
De todo modo, a Seleção se impôs em San Juan. Anderson Varejão foi o melhor da partida, principalmente no terceiro período. Com a vitória, o Brasil garantiu vaga na segunda fase (os quatro primeiros de cada grupo se classificam), e lideram o Grupo B seguidos da Venezuela, que hoje perdeu para o Panamá por 80 a 71. Pelo Grupo A, Ilhas Virgens 67 x 87 Canadá e Uruguai 54 x 71 Porto Rico.

Sorry for writing in English as I’m from Malaysia. Hope you don’t mind me commenting here about the on going FIBA Americas. As expected with the absence of Team USA, this competition has turned out to be much more than exciting than ever. There is no telling what can happened even after day 4.
So far I believe only Brazil and Puerto Rico are the true championship contender while DR and Canada or Uruguay and to certain extent maybe Venezuela can be the dark horse. My team has always been Argentina as I’m really sad to see the current state of the team. Thank God they won against Panama but that will not guarantee anything as their next match against DR will tough as ever.
If they finished fourth in their group, then their quarter final match up against Costa Rica will be extremely tough for them to break the top four for the automatic berth. But I feel that FIBA will award them a wild card birth based on their strong world ranking.
